Die today...please !! - Die Another Day Reviews
I have been a fan of the Bond movies since childhood. I grew up during the Moore era in the 70s,but my favourite Bond is Connery..much more realistic and believable..he was Bond..charming yet ruthless and brutal when the need arose. Lazenby wasnt bad in his one outing and Dalton did his best with the scripts he was given despite having the potential as an actor to do better than they made him look. Moores reign was the beginning of the downfall of the Bond movies as he turned Bond into a cheesy smarmy comedian as opposed to a ruthless brutal assassin. Brosnan had the potential to bring things back to the Connery glory days but unfortunately for him after a good start, the writers took him down the Moore direction and the result is this movie..the most embarrassing pathetic disgrace of a movie i have seen in a long time and by far the biggest joke of a Bond movie ever witnessed. Theres no plot to speak of....(Koreans who morph into white upper class english toffs with perfect accents...scenes ripped off from about every Bond movie ever made etc)..were the writers smoking the funny stuff when they dreamed this crap up? The acting...dreadful..particularly Halle Berry..she may be a honey but how did this woman manage to win an oscar?? Worst of all..and what condemned this movie to be a laughing stock..the CGI effects..invisible cars? Bond surfing a tsunami wave on a plastic cockpit cover and a parachute he managed to rustle together in mid air after destroying a rocket car? a car chase around an ice palace..(Im guessing Superman will be pissed when he learns Bond damaged his Fortress Of Solitude)...whoever dreamed this muck up deserves to be shot..lazy scriptwriting that just copied the worst excessess from the movie XXX,and multiplied them by 10 in order to make more money..as if they hadnt made enough from all the product placement already. This rubbish is so far removed from the Fleming Books and the original Connery Bond that its an insult to them to call this a " Bond" movie. I have written this having already seen the next bond movie "Casino Royale" and thankfully the producers learned from their mistakes,Daniel Craig is a fantastic Bond..and the series is thankfully going back to its Connery roots...and it just served to make me realise just quite how bad this movie was..rent the Connery movies and go see the new Craig one if you want to see a real Bond movie...leave this one for the comedy channel...where it belongs.
