Die another day should have died before production - Die Another Day Reviews
I am shocked by some of the reviews that I have seen on this movie. How it could even get a "C" rating amazes me. Apparently, Bond fans no longer have any plot, script or casting demands what-so-ever. In this new age of cinema it appears that, special effects, regardless of their absurdity are the only thing that sell.
First, let me say that I am by no means one to shun the occasionally outrageous stunt sequence or spectacular set of special effects, especially in a Bond movie. I love them as much as the next guy and always enter a Bond movie in a very liberal state of suspended disbelief. However, the stunts and effects of this movie were downright comical in their absurdity.
That along with frequent, witless one-liners from a shckingly bad Halle Berry and an uninspired plot made for a Bond Movie that taints the entire series and is unquestionably the worst Bond by far.
Berry's performance was so feeble that it actually made me forgive Denise Richards for her Bond performance. What happened to the sophisticated, forgein, exotic female leads that used to make Bond movies, "Bond Movies"? Who's next, Jennifer Love Hewitt?
As bad as this movie was the opening sequence was actually very well done and may have been what fooled all these other reviewers into believing that they were watching a quality movie. After it ends, however, the only reason to watch the rest of the movie is to see just how stupid and absurd the special effects in a movie can be and still generate a mindless following from the undemanding digital effects junkies out there. This movie puts the Ian Flemming legacy in jepordy!
